Confessions of a Wannabe Beauty Blogger

May 6, 2013
I don't really consider myself an avid beauty blogger (I much prefer to read beauty blogs) but I think it's safe to say that I had beauty blogger tendencies way before beauty blogs became a hit. While browsing through all my old photo archives, I came across one I had taken about 8 years ago of all the lip products I used at the time. I have no idea what prompted me to take the picture (I suppose I've always taken random pictures like that) but I'm glad I did because now I am able to look back and see what brands I was using even then. Lip products were the first makeup items I was ever allowed to wear while growing up so I accumulated quite a few. Even today, I still love lip products and have a large collection.

Let's just ignore the glue stick, the ancient computer keyboard, and chip bag clip holder thing. The red lipstick was definitely not one that my mother would ever have allowed me to wear out of the house- it was for a dance performance. The sparkly pink lip smackers chap stick was my absolute favorite flavor, as was the watermelon and Dr. Pepper (also pictured). The tube of purple sparkles on the left was like magic in a tube for me. I felt like a pop star whenever I wore it. It was to be applied on the body and hair and I would usually wear it just on my face (glitter faces were popular back then, apparently- this was before Kesha made it "cool", if it can be considered that) and one time I wore a bit in my hair, but it got kind of clumpy without my noticing it and some girl at school saw it and thought it was an insect or something and offered to grab it out of my hair. Needless to say, that was the very last time I ever used the sparkle tube. But I kept it in my bathroom drawer just admiring it every so often up until about a year ago, I finally tossed it. Lastly, the Mary-Kate and Ashley lip gloss (far bottom left) was one of my all-time favorites. I don't know if any of you remember when MKA had their cosmetics line at Wal-mart but I was in awe of everything in their collection. I just know that if their line was available today, I'd still be purchasing their products. Did you ever use any of these products?
